We are absolutely spoiled for choice when it comes to wineries, breweries and distilleries in Margaret River. I know, what a problem to have right? 

When you’re on your holiday down south why not keep it local and enjoy some of our favorite drinks in the region? We’ve made it one of THE MOST fun things to do in Margaret River with a game of indulgent ABCs.

These are some of our favorites (26 favorite drinks in Margaret River to be precise) however we JUST KNOW you’ll discover more of your own favorite tipples as you explore the Margaret River Region.

A Is For Artizan Rare Muscat, Gralyn Estate

Gralyn Estate is one of the oldest wineries in the Margaret River Region. They opened their cellar door in 1978 and have produced award-winning wines and fortifieds ever since.

Gralyn’s Artizan Rare Muscat is a fortified dessert wine with good acidity and intense toffee and raisin flavors. It’s a perfect balance of richness with a fresh, smooth finish. It is a perfect representation of Artizan wine production in Australia.

Be Is For Bertie Cider, Colonial Brewery

Colonial Brewery has hit the nail on the head with their Bertie Cider. Bertie’s is a sessionable cider that is not spoiled by added sugar retaining its crisp apple flavor.  

Medium to dry flavor profile with a crisp, clean finish this is an all-day beverage to share with friends.

C Is For Clayface Chardonnay, Dormilona Wines

Dormilona Wines are hand-crafted, small-batch wines by winemaker Josephine Perry. Created with originality and flair, Dormilona is at the forefront of a new generation of wineries in Margaret River.

Clayface Chardonnay is lovingly produced from hand-picked grapes that are then pressed into an Italian Amphora pot. The result is natural flavors that perfectly reflect the purity of the fruit and the season.

D Is For DIPA, Beerfarm

Beerfarm’s DIPA (Double IPAs) are brewed as part of their hop experiment. The range features both an East Coast and a West Coast DIPA and is recognized for its full hoppy flavors and high ABV.

Both DIPAs are NOT for the faint-hearted and if you’re the type to get a bit tipsy off the scent of an oily rag you might need to leave these bad boys for the beery pros. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. 

Beerfarm also put on an epic feast, so if you’re looking for things to do in Margaret River THIS WEEKEND, Beerfarm is it.

E Is For Epiq Chardonnay, Marq Wines

Marq Wines are one of our favorite local producers. Legendary winemaker Mark Warren is the skilled mastermind behind Marq wines. 

Oak shines in this Epiq Chardonnay, exciting the palate and complementing your dining experience.

F is For Fools Gold, Pet Nat, LS Merchants

LS Merchants is the brand at the forefront of movers and shakers in the wine industry in Margaret River. LS Merchants are led by a passionate family and team that inject fun, flavor, and technique into every bottle.

Fools Gold is naturally bottle-fermented and showcases passionfruit and gooseberry flavors with a hint of citrus. 

If you’re looking for a Margaret River pet nat, this bottle of fizz is for you.

G Is For Giniversity Australian Native Gin, Margaret River Distilling Co

Margaret River Distilling Co is part of a family group of distilleries spanning the South West and Great Southern regions of Western Australia. 

Their giniversity range is unique with a range of flavors to try. However, our favorite is the Australian Native Gin. We love the infusion of Geraldton Wax, Lemon Myrtle, and Emu Plum.

H Is For Heretic Wines Pinot Noir, Arimia Estate

Giving you everything you want from a Pinot, Arimia Estates Heretic Pinot Noir is light and refreshing but met with gusto as you absorb layer after layer of flavor. 

A collaborative effort, this special wine is created with grapes grown on the banks of the Yarra River before being carefully matured and bottled in Margaret River.

I Is For IPA – Royal Haze, Beerfarm

Coming in hot again is another epic brew by the Beerfarm crew. Their IPA (Royal Haze) is a cloudy and fruity concoction coupled with mild bitterness. 

With a 5.8% ABV it’s not one for the skipper but certainly would be enjoyed with mates around a fire pit.

J Is For JCY BNGR, LS Merchants

LS Merchants delivering up another banger, literally. JCY BNGR is a blend of Marsanne, Chenin Blanc, and Vermentino with the flavors of yellow stone fruit permeating the tasting experience.

It is excellent with chicken or seafood for a real JCY feast.

K Is For Kolsch, Colonial Brewery

Colonial Brewery is back again with another crowd-pleasing, sessionable ale. Their Kolsch is smooth and crisp with a light hoppy flavor. 

It’s definitely one to be enjoyed with mates on a sunny afternoon or at the end of a road trip when you’re lighting your campfire.

L Is For Limeburners Whiskey, Margaret River Distilling Co

This is a tipple for a special occasion! A milestone birthday? A pre-wedding sip of dutch courage with the boys? Or just a Sunday evening in your accommodation with a woodfire?

Meticulously crafted with depth and rich flavor and aged to perfection, you can’t go past Limeburners single malt whiskey for the most discerning whiskey connoisseur.

M Is For Megsy Ginger Beer, Brewhouse

Who doesn’t love a refreshing ginger beer on a warm afternoon? Megsy is part of the core range at Brewhouse, Margaret River. Megsy ginger beer is sweet and sassy with the bite of ginger you’d expect. 

Coming in at a nice mid-range ABV of 3.1% this is a light-hearted beverage to enjoy at any time.

N Is For Native Series, Beerfarm

A purposeful collaboration between the brew crew at the Beerfarm and Fervors, Paul Iskov brings you the Native Series. Paying homage to native vegetation and produced with the utmost respect for our traditional owners, the native series is as eye-opening as it is tasty.

My favorite Native Series brew to date has been #7, created with WA natives Wattach Wattleseed and Cyclops Wattleseed into a red ale that packs a punch.

O Is For Organic Absinthe, Grove Distillery

Is O my new favorite letter of the alphabet? Touted as being the best Absinthe distillery in Australia, Grove Distillery brings you the best of the best with their Organic Absinthe.

Handcrafted with the addition of botanicals and carefully triple distilled, this Absinthe is full of flavor but smooth as silk. You’ll enjoy the light dancing of citrus on your palette to finish.

P Is For Perseverance, Brown Hill Estate

Brown Hill Estate is one winery I always take my friends to for a tasting when they visit Margaret River. 

Their wines are exceptional and the tastings are friendly and knowledgeable but my absolute favorite drop by Brown Hill is their Cabernet Merlot, Perseverance. 

Perseverance has received many accolades over the years and one sip will show you why.

Q Is For Queen Of The Earth Cabernet Sauvignon, Flowstone Wines

Flowstone is one of my favorite small vineyard wineries in Margaret River. Located on the cusp of the Leeuwin Naturaliste ridge, Flowstone offers carefully created wines that capture the essence of the environment they are produced in.

Queen of the Earth Cabernet Sauvignon offers rich layers of berry notes finishing with spicy oak. It was recently awarded 96 points in the 2022 Halliday Wine Companion Awards and will pair well with Mediterranean dishes and red meats.

R Is For Red IPA, Brewhouse

This is one of my husband’s favorite local beers. Brewhouse Red IPA is a gutsy, hoppy full-flavored beer with an ABV of 6.2%.

It has flavors of tropical fruits and a bitter finish that is well balanced by the roundness of Barley. You can buy it by the keg, on tap, or in cans. A casual afternoon visit to the Brewhouse is one of the best things to do in Margaret River.

S Is For Strawberry Sour, Black Brewing Co

I went through a stage over the last year of being really into locally brewed sour beers. There are some good ones out there! So believe me when I say, this was one of my favorites.

Black Brewing Co’s Strawberry Sour is a thirst-quenching pocket rocket of bright pink, sweet and bitter strawberry flavor. Full-bodied with an ABV of 5% it’s kind of like an alcoholic strawberry gelato. Need I say more?

T Is For Tempranillo, Marq Wines

Marq Wines takes out this category with their Tempranillo. My husband is quite partial to a Tempranillo especially to accompany his famous seafood Paella. So imagine my delight when I discovered this locally produced Tempranillo for only $22.50 ($16USD) a bottle!

What a delightful bargain considering it’s bursting with flavor and the perfect accompaniment to a variety of dishes.

U Is For Sea Urchin Rose, Wise Wine

Our only Rose on the list so let’s make it a good one! Wise Wines is a long-standing favorite in the Margaret River Wine Region. They were established in 1992 and are positioned in a picturesque location near Eagle Bay.

We love their Sea Urchin Rose because it’s bursting with a bright, berry flavor but is light and crisp and easy to enjoy over lunch with a friend.

V Is For Verdelho, Ashbrook Estate

One of the lesser-known varieties that the Margaret River Region does well is Verdelho. We love this one by Ashbrook Estate for its light, unwooded flavor but notes of tropical fruits that dance on the palate.

This is an easy-drinking wine to enjoy on its own or to accompany a seafood or chicken dish.

W Is For Wild Classics, Amato Vino

Amato Vino is a small-batch, Artisan winemaking team that utilizes lo-fi and traditional methods with the addition of their creative flair.

Their wild classics range is a one-stop pack to cover all bases. Whether you’re looking for a gift or just a few local varieties to try, this range has you covered.

You can also taste their wines at the historic Darnells Trader’s shopfront in Witchcliffe which is a fun outing in itself.

X Is For XPA, Colonial Brewery

Colonial Brewery has produced another epic cheery, beery beverage in their Citrus XPA. This XPA is bright and golden in color and packed full of zesty citrus and mandarin flavor.

A unique aspect of this extra pale ale is that it is brewed with 100% Australian-grown hops. So hop to it, this is a fun, sessionable ale you can enjoy with your friends and family.

If you’re looking for a little pizzazz in the form of lawn games and golf to add to your drinking experience, Colonial is the place to be. They have some of the most fun activities in Margaret River in their large beer garden.

Y Is For Yokel Chenin Blanc

Another thoughtful pet nat creation by the team at Dormilona Wines. Yokel Chenin Blanc is more light and crisp than the Clayface we mentioned earlier. 

It is smooth and well-rounded in flavor with a taste that lingers. Award-winning and affordable, this will quickly become a favorite if you’re into Margaret River Pet Nat Wines.

Z Is For Zinfandel, Burnside Organic Farm

Are you still with me or you’re a little tipsy by the end of this alphabet game? Stick around as rounding us out with ‘Z’ is a delightful Zinfandel by Burnside Organic Farm.

I love the earthy depth but light, fruity finish to this Zinfandel. It is the perfect accompaniment to a braised beef cheeks pappardelle which is one of my favorite winter meals. Yum.
